A Mosaic is an ornamental or painted decoration made of small, different coloured (two or more) and differently shaped stones, pieces of glass, ceramics, precious and semiprecious stones.

The elements are stuck to the ground for example by application of non bounded mortar or resin (mastic from Pistacia lentiscus tree).

Mosaics are mostly used to decorate flooring, walls in sacral and secular buildings or furniture (table tops, tables, desks).
